Welcome to microlab

"Innovative approaches to problem solving in microbiology" - António Correiasince 1995

The laboratory of microbiology - microlab is a research laboratory devoted to the study of microorganisms, where a wide range of innovative approaches to problem solving in microbiology have been implemented. We are currently devoted to four research lines: Microbial Diversity,  Fungal-Host-Environment Interactions, Microbial Biotechnological Potential and Environmental Microbiome.

About

Microlab was founded by Professor António Carlos Matias Correia in 1995. António Correia was a Full Professor at the University of Aveiro since 2010, having built a respected curriculum in the field of Microbiology. His dedication to teaching and his special talent for communication are part of the collective memory of several generations of students. As leader of Microlab, Professor António transmitted to his collaborators his enthusiasm, integrity and respect for science. His inspiring example accompanies the Microlab team as we seek to contribute with knowledge and solutions in the field of Microbiology. The training of new scientists is one of the activities to which we have been most committed, with more than 40 MSc degrees and more than 20 PhDs already concluded.
